Beach/River Sweep Weekend!

This morning we joined East Cooper Montessori Charter School and the SCDNR in an effort to clean up the marshes around Shem Creek.  This effort is part of a larger Beach and River Sweep Weekend, which is organized every year on the 3rd Saturday in September.  We worked hard to collect every piece of trash that we could find.  Three separate groups split up to clean separate sections of the marsh, and several tandem kayaks worked from the water as well.  There is power in numbers!  We can make a difference if we get together and work hard!  The garbage that we collected has lost the chance to harm the wildlife or the water around Shem Creek!

A huge thanks to the Vigliotti's for organizing the sweep and the lunchtime gathering for pizza and prizes at Odyssey Board Shop!
